Ice cream sundae

I have always been a dreamer. I remember when I was small I loved to pretend with my dollhouses, their perfect families with their perfect jobs and children. I used to play house with my sister and our cabbage patch dolls. I was a lawyer and she was a doctor. I used to close my eyes on our commutes to church and play out my future in my head. It was perfect.
When my reality didn’t quite meet the expectations of my dreams, I was left with disappointment. I could barely see the road I started off on and couldn’t find the directions back. I would cling to anything and anyone who would make me feel complete. Maybe it was my job, a relationship, a friendship....but there was still a hole. During my highs and lows, I still felt incomplete.
I do not believe that God punishes us by bringing us to our low points but I do believe that he allows us to suffer the consequences of our decisions and in those low moments is when I believe we have the greatest opportunity to draw near to him. Because He never left our side!
What’s even better is that He turns every trial we face into a blessing to be used as a testimony of how amazing his grace is!
It took me a long time to realize the most important lesson, God alone makes us complete. There is no relationship, job, vacation, amount of money, anything...that will bring us the joy that God brings. Not even our children.
But when God is my center, all of those things will be the plumpest cherry on the top of my ice cream sundae.
When I look back over my journey, I may not be the lawyer living in the house with the white picket fence but God has supplied all my needs and his hand has been upon through every trial. Because even when we only give 1%, God still gives 100%.
Once we settle into the love Jesus has for us, we are drawn back to the road he paved for us...each of us our own designed path, and begin to discover our purpose and turn our hearts towards serving others. I talk a lot about where God has brought me from but the real story is about where he is taking me, how he will use me, and what he will accomplish. All for His Glory and His Kingdom!
Philippians 4:19-21 The Passion Translation (TPT)
19 I am convinced that my God will fully satisfy every need you have, for I have seenthe abundant riches of glory revealed to methrough the Anointed One, Jesus Christ! 20 And God our Father will receive all the glory and the honor throughout the eternity of eternities! Amen!
