Happy New Year!

I’ve given a lot of thought this year to New Year’s resolutions. I love this time of year when we almost reset ourselves and set new priorities. Of my resolutions, making healthy life choices is at the top of my list among other things but it’s not just the food I eat and the exercise I commit to. While those are important to me, in 2020 I want God to completely redesign me.

In 2019, I really recommitted my life to Christ in a new way...committing to know him more on a personal level. I got more involved in my church but I still found myself trying to “obtain” something. I would look at others and say, “One day I’m gonna be like them.”

What hit me like a ton of bricks was when that gentle voice inside me whispered...

It’s not about what we can be with Christ but what Christ can be in us.

In Jesus day, when John the Baptist was baptizing people, people would ask him if he was a prophet.  His answer was beautiful!

John 3:29-30 The Passion Translation (TPT)

He is the Bridegroom, and the bride belongs to him. I am the friend of the Bridegroom who stands nearby and listens with great joy to the Bridegroom’s voice. And because of his words my joy is complete and overflows! So it’s necessary for him to increase and for me to be diminished.

If I could visualize my 2020 resolution, I would see myself pulling out everything self-seeking, any hurts and bitterness, fear, and negative thoughts and let God fill me with all things of Him.  I would let God’s light shine down and I would quietly step back into the shadow to make room for his Glory.
