Elevator speech

In the business world they tell you to prepare your elevator speech. In other words, if you happen to ride on the elevator with someone you may want to network with, what can you say in a minute that would mark you as memorable.

Many times over the years I have been asked about my faith and looking back I feel awkward for myself trying to make my statement of faith. Why do I believe in God or what is He to me? How can I express in words how amazing God is?

When I first started to seek God it was for help because I was completely lost to put it mildly. I had been taught but nothing compared to what He revealed to me about who he really was as I read through His Word. You can hear a scripture but it’s amazing when the Spirit brings His word to life!

John 1:37-38 The Passion Translation (TPT)

37 And as soon as John’s two disciples heard this, they immediately left John and began to follow a short distance behind Jesus.

38 Then Jesus turned around and saw they were following him and asked, “What do you want?” They responded, “Rabbi (which means, Master Teacher, where are you staying?”

Christ’s first followers began to follow Him when he turned and asked them what did they want? When they responded with “where are you staying?”, this was revealing that they wanted to be with Him or to abide with Him. (Be in life-union with Him)

Why do I believe in God?

I have never in my life felt so purpose-filled. Through Christ I am a Co-Heir to His Kingdom. I am valuable and loved and wanted. I don’t follow Christ because of what He can do for me, though his blessings are unending. I follow Christ because I want to know Him.

I owe him everything I have ... yet He already paid my debt.

Covered by His grace and eternally grateful. I am His and He is mine.
