Before the storm

Not long ago my daughter came to visit from school and she had spent the morning with her friend. I had taken Major to the pool this particular morning and while there had an encounter with a woman whose grandson had seizures. I shared with her my story with Major and told her I’d keep her son in prayer, encouraging her that God was with her.
I left the pool to go and pick up my daughter from her friend’s house and on our way back I looked back and Major was having a seizure in his car seat (one they’d tell me later they couldn’t find evidence of happening).
My daughter was frantic as I pulled over and pulled him out laying him on his side, calling 911, saying a prayer over Major, and calming her. Afterwards she asked me, “Mom how do you stay calm? I was frozen in fear?”
If you know me, you know that I have lived my life as a worrier. But God has brought me peace and I have surrendered fear that one held me captive.
John 16:33
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
I do not always handle situations with complete peace and calmness like I did this specific day. I’m pretty sure the paramedics expected me to be more frazzled as my daughter did but I felt as if God was just carrying me around.
Here’s what I know. The enemy literally lives to find us during our weakest points to attack and exaggerate our situation holding us in fear, anger, bitterness, rejection, worry, and anxiety way longer than needed and at a much higher intensity.
But if WE prepare ourselves ahead of time and put on his armor...we will meet our situation head on and not remain in it. It will hurt, it will be scary, but we will come out of it!
I didn’t wait until Major had the seizure to pray for peace. I praised him that entire morning for his hand on Major as I claimed it talking to the lady at the pool. I prayed for months and weeks in advance for that moment, when things were good...before the battle.
Pray for the journey ahead especially while you have strength! Battles are coming but we can be prepared!
