Are we there yet?

This year has been such a pivotal year for me for so many reasons. My oldest starts college, my middle starts high school, and my little is finally getting some answers to his battles with his developmental delay, constant sickness and febrile seizures.

I have been so focused on the end goal...almost like the anticipation of September will never get here. August is the last home stretch of this temporary season. In moments I wonder, will I ever reach my destination? Will life ever “calm down”?

In the midst of this I have been reading a devotional around seeking God’s purpose my my life. What really hit me hard was when it was talking about how the destination is not the place we find God. We find God in the journey. During our times of seeking answers that we cry out to God and grow an intimate relationship that is so incredibly more than anything else good in our lives. We experience his divine love and peace.

Things may not always go as I plan or fit into the timeline that I have but I have been learning patience as I wait on the Lord for each trial. Sometime I even ask him, “Ok God. Maybe throw me a little sign that something is happening behind the scenes here.” Ha!

And as this is a temporary season, September will come and go with new life challenges. But I will meet God in the journey and he will continue to shape me and grow me while sustaining me with his joy and hope.

Romans 15:13 The Passion Translation (TPT)

13 Now may God, the inspiration and fountain of hope, fill you to overflowing with uncontainable joy and perfect peace as you trust in him. And may the power of the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with his super-abundance until you radiate with hope!
